North America 2024

January 13, 2025

My wife and I spent the last few days in 2024 in the USA. Here are some highlights.

Atlanta

We spent a few days in Atlanta. It was a great city to visit. I'm not sure what to make of Atlanta, apart from going to the Coca-Cola museum and it having better weather than Chicago and NYC.

Chicago

We spent two days only in Chicago visiting a friend. Chicago was really cold (with temp going as low as -10C) so we were quite limited in what we could do.

We went to the Millenium park and go to see the Bean. I also wanted to get the Italian beef burger from Mr. Beef (the restaurant in which the show "The Bear" is loosely inspired by) but it was too cold to wait on a queue so I ordered via Uber Eats. I think we'd like to go back again maybe in summer to fully experience the city.

New York

New York was an aaaawesome city to visit and as I write this, I'm still suffering from the travel blues. 10/10 would recommend.

We spent a total of 5 days in NYC and we were pretty much out everyday exploring the city except for Christmas day.

I created and used the map below to plan our trip. It was a great way to see the city and plan our days.

I made a joke about New York smelling of weed so much that it should be called new Amsterdam but then I remembered it actually used to be called that.

You can just tell to some extent that the capitalism in this city goes a bit harder than in other cities.

So what did I like about New York? The history, (tall) buildings, busy and diverse city.

Ngl, I see why the aliens always land there first in movies.
